What is Fostering?

When you foster, you agree to take a homeless animal into your home and give him or her love, care and attention, either for a predetermined period of time or until the pet is adopted. There is no fee to foster but we ask foster parents to cover the cost of food and litter if applicable. All veterinary costs are covered by the rescue organization.

Why are foster homes critical?

Most rescue organizations do not have a physical shelter and depend solely on caring people within the community to open up their hearts and homes to an animal in need until a forever home can be found.

Why do animals need foster homes?

In a perfect world animals would not need fostering, they would be able to be brought into a shelter where they would be loved and cared for until adopted. This is not the case. Everyday single day in the United States 7,400 dogs and cats are euthanized because shelters are too full and there aren’t enough adoptive homes. This is where we step in, attempting to reroute pets into foster homes so they don't end up in a shelter. Most of the ones we take would be immediately euthanized if taken in by the shelter or would have only a few days to live.

These include:

Puppies and kittens to young to eat on their own and must be bottle fed. (Animals too young to eat on their own are immediately euthanized)

An injured, malnourished or sick animal that needs a home to recover in.

An animal that needs human one on one attention so it can be socialized.

Where do they come from?

These animals come from many different situations which include:
